2-Day Live Online Group Storytelling for Business Workshop ($150)

These online workshops will be conducted very much like our in-person workshops, with storytelling exercises and opportunities to share your stories and get feedback from your instructor and fellow students. We’ll be using the Zoom online platform to host our video calls, and we’ll send you all the info you need on how to join your class when you sign up.

In this 2-day workshop, participants apply the principles of compelling storytelling to communicate more effectively on the job. Brief lectures and hands-on exercises focus on bringing an emotionally resonant arc to brand biographies, personal anecdotes for professional networking, and vision-into-action stories.

Participants will get a chance to share and receive feedback on one short story of their choosing. The instructor confers with each student via email prior to the day of the workshop to help the student prepare appropriate story content to workshop.

ATTENDANCE:

For any class of up to 2 days in length, students must commit to attending the entire class. We understand emergencies arise, but if you know ahead of time that you cannot attend any part of the class, we ask that you choose dates where you can attend the entire class. We understand that last minute conflicts may arise in your schedule. If this happens, please contact admin@thestorystudio.org as soon as you become aware of your conflict.

SESSION REQUIREMENTS:

For online classes, please arrive on time and be prepared to attend the class with your camera on (not just audio).

Headphones are recommended to reduce echo/feedback and provide more privacy for your classmates.

We encourage you to make recordings (video or audio) when you share your story. You can do this using a separate smart device or by using Quicktime or Garageband on your computer. Please decide ahead of time what is easiest for you. If you are going to use a smart device, make sure that there is enough available memory on your phone or tablet to make a 5-minute recording. This is only a tool for you, and no one else will be viewing these videos. We do know that taping oneself makes some people uncomfortable, so please know that this is not mandatory.

This class is open to all students. No experience required.

5-session Live Online Group Storytelling for Business Workshop ($350)

These online workshops will be conducted very much like our in-person workshops, with storytelling exercises and opportunities to share your stories and get feedback from your instructor and fellow students. We’ll be using the Zoom online platform to host our video calls, and we’ll send you all the info you need on how to join your class when you sign up.

Story Studio Storytelling for Business workshops demystify the storytelling process and provide a forum for employees to become clear, confident, engaging communicators.

This personalized 5-session class will explore in depth the art of storytelling for business. It is ideal for participants who are looking to advance their careers by applying storytelling techniques to their work.

Participants will each focus on their own business and/or career objectives and challenges, learning how to strip an idea to its core, and communicate that idea in a way that is concrete and emotionally resonant.

The 2.5-hour sessions over a 5-week period will give students individualized instruction while creating a group dynamic in which to share stories and give and receive feedback that enables them to hone their stories into sharp focus.

All Story Studio Storytelling for Business class participants leave with three polished stories matched to their personal business objectives. Using techniques adapted from performance development, improv and classic storytelling, participants learn how to craft a story that will help to move their career forward.

ATTENDANCE:

For a 5-session class, attending the first class session is mandatory. If you know in advance that you need to miss more than 1 session of the class, we ask that you choose a class for which you can attend at least 4 sessions of a 5 week class, and miss no more than 1 session of the class. We understand that last minute conflicts may arise in your schedule. If this happens, please contact admin@thestorystudio.org as soon as you become aware of your conflict.
